Meet the 2024 Team Resistol Frontrunners

Resistol’s rodeo athletes proudly represent the brand both in and out of the arena. The #BestAllAround Team wears their hats with the same pride that defines Resistol’s craftsmanship and embodies the traits Resistol is known for–authenticity, resiliency, and drive. These athletes, through their dedication and performance, exemplify the core values of Resistol. We are honored to have them uphold the integrity of rodeo, showcasing our commitment to excellence and tradition. Whether competing in the arena or engaging with the community, our endorsees bring the spirit of Resistol to life, inspiring others with their unwavering dedication and passion for the sport.

 

As the rodeo season draws to a close, with only about 30 days remaining, the top 20 athletes in each event are working tirelessly to secure a coveted spot in the top 15 to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR). Here’s a look at the frontrunners of the #BestAllAround Team:

Bareback Riding

  • Keenan Hayes leads the world in bareback riding with over $185,000 in earnings. Last year’s Bareback Riding Resistol Rookie of the Year, he clinched the World Title in his debut at the Wrangler NFR.
  • Leighton Berry is third in the world standings. This three-time NFR qualifier is striving for his first World Title.

  • Cole Reiner sits near the cut-off at 14th in the world. The 2020 Bareback Riding Resistol Rookie of the Year has qualified for the NFR four times.

  • Jesse Pope is currently 17th in the world and aiming to break into the top 15. A four-time NFR qualifier, he has three NFR Average titles and one World Title to his name.

Bull Riding

  • Clayton Sellars is ranked 9th in the world. The 2019 Resistol Bull Riding Rookie of the Year and three-time NFR qualifier is focused on capturing a World Title.

  • Lukasey Morris is just outside the bubble, in the 20th spot, with only a few hundred dollars separating the 16 through 20. The 2022 Resistol Bull Riding Rookie of the Year has one NFR qualification and is battling for a spot this year.

Tie Down Roping

  • Ty Harris is ranked 2nd in the world standings. The 2018 Resistol Tie-Down Roping Rookie of the Year has five NFR qualifications under his belt.

  • John Douch sits 5th in the world. With three consecutive NFR qualifications from 2021 to 2023, he is eyeing his fourth.

  • Dylan Hancock, the 2023 Tie-Down and All-Around Resistol Rookie of the Year, is ranked 10th in the world and aims for his first NFR qualification.

  • Cole Clemons leads the Resistol Tie-Down Rookie of the Year standings and is 12th in the world. He is working towards qualifying for the NFR in his debut year.

  • Zack Jongbloed follows closely behind Clemons, ranked 13th in the world. He earned a third-place finish in the average during his first NFR qualification and finished 17th last year.

Resistol athletes dominate spots 17th through 19th in the world: Trevor Hale (17th), Macon Murphy (18th), and Beau Cooper (19th).

Saddle Bronc

  • Wyatt Casper is 3rd in the world, just $2,000 behind 2nd place. This would mark his 5th consecutive NFR qualification.

  • Ryder Wright, currently 7th in the world, is a two-time World Champion and the 2016 Resistol Rookie of the Year.

  • Statler Wright, Ryder’s youngest brother, is ranked 9th and on track to secure his first NFR qualification.

  • Dawson Hay is ranked 11th after winning the Livermore Rodeo. This would be his 5th NFR qualification as the 2018 Resistol Saddle Bronc Rookie of the Year.

  • Logan Hay, Dawson’s older brother, is on the bubble, ranked 14th in the world. In his only NFR qualification, he finished second in the average and earned nearly $200,000.

Steer Wrestling

  • Dakota Eldridge, after a strong start to the year with a win at RodeoHouston, is ranked 2nd in the world standings. The 2012 Resistol All-Around and Steer Wrestling Rookie of the Year is pursuing his first World Title with 10 NFR qualifications.

  • Will Lummus is right behind him in 3rd place. The six-time NFR qualifier and one-time Wrangler NFR Average Title holder is aiming for his first World Title.

  • Ty Erickson, 7th in the world, is the 2019 Wrangler NFR Steer Wrestling Champion. He has eight NFR qualifications and was the 2011 Resistol Steer Wrestling Rookie of the Year.

  • Tyler Pearson, the 2017 Wrangler NFR Steer Wrestling Champion, is 10th in the world and working towards his 6th NFR qualification.

  • Jesse Brown, the 2017 Resistol Steer Wrestling Rookie of the Year, is ranked 11th in the world and aiming for his 5th consecutive NFR qualification.

  • Stephen Culling is ranked 14th and working towards his second NFR qualification.

Team Roping

  • Dustin Egusquiza is ranked 2nd in the world for heading, with six NFR qualifications. His partner, Levi Lord, is first in the heading world standings and has three NFR qualifications. Together, they have claimed top spots at Rodeo Celina, Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo, and Rodeo Austin.

  • Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp, last year’s NFR World Title winners for heading, are both ranked 3rd in the world. Wade was the 2012 Resistol Team Roping (Heading) Rookie of the Year. Thorp has two World Titles (2019 and 2023) and one NFR Average Title, with eight NFR qualifications.

  • Logan Medlin is 5th in the world standings for heeling. A two-time National College Finals Rodeo team roping title winner, he has four NFR qualifications.

  • Jake Smith is 6th in the world standings for heading and is working towards his first NFR qualification with partner Douglas Rich, who is 7th in the world standings for heeling.

  • Clint Summers is 7th in the world for heading, with his partner Jake Long ranked 6th in the world for heeling. Summers is aiming for his 4th NFR qualification, while Long is pursuing his 14th.

  • Derrick Begay, sitting 8th in the world, is working towards his 11th NFR qualification. Last year, he finished 4th in the World Standings, earning a career-high $269,125 in season earnings and his first NFR Average Title.

  • Erich Rogers, the 2017 NFR World Champion Header, is ranked 12th in the heading standings. His partner, Paul Eaves, the 2018 and 2020 NFR World Champion Heeler, is 13th for heeling. Together, they won the Strawberry Days Rodeo and the Turquoise Circuit Finals.

  • Clay Smith, a two-time Header World Title winner (2018 and 2019), is currently ranked 13th in the world for heading and aiming for his 10th NFR qualification.

  • Cody Snow, ranked 14th in the world for heading, is a seven-time NFR qualifier. His partner, Hunter Koch, is ranked 15th in the world for heeling, and both are on the bubble for this year’s NFR.

  • Tanner Tomlinson is also on the bubble, sitting 15th in the world standings for heading. A two-time NFR qualifier, he won the Wrangler NFR Average Title in 2022.

Breakaway Roping

  • Taylor Munsell is ranked 2nd in the world standings and is poised to qualify for her 4th consecutive National Finals Breakaway Roping (NFBR). Last year, she finished 5th in the world after entering the NFBR ranked 7th.

  • Jordan Jo Hollabaugh, currently ranked 10th in the world, won the inaugural Cheyenne Frontier Days Breakaway Roping in 2019. She also hosts the popular "In the Loop" podcast.

  • Hali Williams, the 2023 Reserve World Champion Breakaway Roper, is ranked 13th and aiming for her 2nd NFBR qualification.

Barrel Racing

  • Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, the 2023 NFR World Champion Barrel Racer, is on the cusp of qualifying for her 18th NFR. A two-time World Champion (2007 and 2009), she also won the NFR Average Title in 2006 and 2007.

As we approach the end of the rodeo season, the competition intensifies, and every dollar earned could make the difference between qualifying for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo or falling short. The Resistol Endorsees have shown incredible skill, determination, and perseverance throughout the year.
