General Manager Ricky Bolin has announced his retirement from Resistol after 34 legendary years.
Prior to his time with Resistol, Ricky enjoyed an illustrious turn as a PRCA bull rider. His time in professional rodeo included four trips to the National Finals in '78, '79, '83, and '85. Ricky was also one of the first rodeo athletes to attract a major brand sponsorship when Coors Beer signed him to an endorsement deal in the prime of his career.
After Ricky retired from the arena in 1989 to spend more time with his wife Melanie and their two beautiful daughters, he went straight to work at Resistol, managing the Garland, TX outlet store. It didn't take long for Ricky to work his way up the corporate ladder, with stops along the way as a Territory Sales Rep, Sales Manager, and ultimately as General Manager. During Ricky's tenure as the General Manager of Resistol, the company achieved levels of growth outpacing any previous period in its history.
Throughout his hat sales career, Ricky garnered many honors, including Salesman of the Year, The Western Image Award, and Cavender's Salesman of the Year.
In addition to his professional honors, Ricky has been acknowledged by many prestigious organizations for his contributions to the Western industry in and out of the arena. These honors include his induction into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2011, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2017, the Professional Bull Riders Ring of Honor in 2017, and the National Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2020. Ricky was also selected to serve on the Texas Circuit Finals Board of Directors for 10 years.
Outside the office, Ricky relishes the opportunity to give back to his community through his work with the Dallas Area Boy Scouts, Cowboys Who Care, and many other charitable organizations. Ricky plans to enjoy retirement with his wife and family, spending more time fishing and team roping.
Ricky will pass the torch to his protégé of 14 years and current Sales Manager, Devin Marcum, in January 2024. Devin has worked hand in hand with Ricky to establish Resistol as an industry leader over the past decade and is looking forward to the challenge of continuing to build on the company's recent success.
Ricky will stay on as Brand Ambassador and consultant for Resistol as he moves onto the next chapter of his storied career in January 2024.
