Red, White, and Resistol

Cowboys traverse the country each summer with one goal in mind: win big over the Fourth of July. This week-long stretch—known as Cowboy Christmas—is one of the most intense and defining runs of the ProRodeo season. For many athletes, it can make or break their standings, second only in importance to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

Team Resistol, the #BestAllAround, proved their dominance during this high-stakes week, making headlines across the map.

Stetson Wright’s Comeback is Unstoppable

After a year sidelined by injury, Stetson Wright is back—and he’s making it clear he never missed a beat. Over Cowboy Christmas, the multi-event champion lit up the leaderboard, picking up major wins at the Reno Rodeo, the Rodeo of the Ozarks, and the West of the Pecos Rodeo, with no score dipping below 89.5 points.

His run began in Reno, where he matched up with Corey & Lange Rodeo’s Speed Dial for an electrifying 92.5-point ride. From there, he moved to Arkansas and marked 91.5 points on Smokin Hot from Cervi Championship Rodeo. Then, in Texas, he conquered Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Whiskey River with a 91-point ride, earning another first-place finish.

Wright returned to Reno for the short round and continued his streak of domination with a 90.5-point ride aboard Rosser Rodeo’s Loguns Legacy—a bull that hasn’t been covered since that ride, bucking off more than a dozen competitors.

Between just these three rodeos, Wright added over $38,000 to his season earnings. He now leads the PRCA All-Around World Standings by more than $100,000 and also sits first in the PRCA Bull Riding World Standings. With eight world titles under his belt, Wright is riding with redemption on his mind, aiming to secure his ninth gold buckle after his injury sidelined him in 2024.

Chase Brooks Notches Big Win in Basin City

Six-time Wrangler NFR qualifier Chase Brooks added over $7,000 to his season earnings with an 87.5-point ride at the Basin City Freedom Rodeo, winning the event with the highest-marked ride on Corey & Lange Rodeo’s Barmaid so far this season. The win bumped the 30-year-old Montanan into the Top 15 in the PRCA Saddle Bronc World Standings, keeping his NFR hopes alive as the season heats up.

Dylan Hancock Stays the Course

Dylan Hancock, the 2023 Tie-Down and All Around Resistol Rookie of the Year, captured the average championship at the Crooked River Roundup with consistent, back-to-back times. His calm precision under pressure is fueling his second NFR push as he holds the 13th spot in the Tie-Down Roping World Standings.

Ty Harris Sets Calgary Ablaze

On day four of the Calgary Stampede, Ty Harris stopped the clock with a lightning-fast 6.7-second tie-down run—the fastest time of the rodeo so far. The five-time NFR qualifier added $7,000 to his name and secured a strong shot at Championship Sunday on July 13.

Harris made the run aboard Peso, the two-time Canadian Tie-Down Horse of the Year. The San Angelo-native pledged 10% of his earnings to flood relief efforts in his home community in Texas.

Jesse Pope Dominates in Reno

2022 World Champion Jesse Pope stayed steady through all three rounds at the Reno Rodeo, earning the bareback average title and nearly $13,000 in winnings.

In June, Pope cashed checks at every stop, and over the Fourth of July run, added another $15,000, pushing him to 4th in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings.

The Hat That Rides With Champions

Cowboy Christmas may be one of the toughest stretches in rodeo, but Team Resistol rose to the occasion with consistency and a drive to win. From comeback stories to career breakthroughs, the athletes under a Resistol brim proved why they wear the hat that’s built for the best.

Resistol—the official hat of Cowboy Christmas and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association—continues to stand tall with the toughest, most talented athletes in the sport.
