Resistol Rookie Roundup: The Ultimate Stage for Rodeo's Rising Stars
The Resistol Rookie Roundup, hosted by The Cowboy Channel, will take place April 25-26 in the Fort Worth Stockyards Coliseum.
The Resistol Rookie Roundup, presented by The Cowboy Channel, returns for its fourth consecutive year, offering first-year Professional Rodeo Association (PRCA) and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) athletes an exclusive platform to kickstart their professional rodeo careers. Set to take place April 25-26 at the historic Fort Worth Stockyards Coliseum, this event combines elite competition with invaluable career-building opportunities, equipping young rodeo athletes for long-term success.
Where Rodeo Futures Begin
The Resistol Rookie Roundup isn’t just about competing—it’s about preparing young rodeo athletes for continuing prosperity in the industry. This event provides these rodeo athletes with vital tools and training to navigate the professional rodeo world with confidence.
“Resistol is thrilled to partner with The Cowboy Channel for another year of this incredible event,” said Mary Jane Carpenter, Brand Director for Resistol. “The Rookie Roundup is a pivotal stepping stone in a young rodeo athlete’s career, giving them the opportunity to gain experience both in and out of the arena—whether through their PRCA headshots, media training or guidance from some of rodeo’s best.”
Not Your Average Rodeo
Sanctioned by the PRCA and WPRA, the event features the top 15 first-year cardholders in each event, all competing for a share of the $100,000 purse. With the Cowboy Channel producing and broadcasting the event, contestants will gain firsthand experience performing under the bright lights of national television.
The action unfolds over two days. On April 25, all 15 contestants in each event will compete in a single go-round. The following night, on April 26, the top eight will advance to the semifinals, with the top four to battle it out in the championship round later that evening.
Adding to the experience, contestants will also receive a gift bag from The Cowboy Channel, packed with gear and essentials to help them navigate their rookie year on the road.
The Rookie Roundup stands apart by helping rookies navigate media spotlight, sponsorships and the business side of rodeo. The Cowboy Channel will produce a special roundtable series, where participants in each event will sit down with past Resistol Rookie of the Year winners. These discussions, combined with media training and mentoring sessions, will equip contestants with valuable insights for their careers ahead.
The Resistol Rookie of the Year Award
The Resistol Rookie of the Year Award is one of the most prestigious honors in professional rodeo, recognizing the top first-year athletes in the PRCA and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association. Money won at the Resistol Rookie Roundup, presented by The Cowboy Channel, will count towards the Resistol Rookie standings but will not be credited towards the PRCA | RAM World Standings for a Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualification.
