Resistol Rookie Roundup Concludes, Crowning Fifth Edition of Champions

In its fifth edition, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Resistol Rookie Roundup showcased the sport’s rising stars in the heart of Fort Worth’s historic Stockyards. The top athletes took home coveted Rookie Roundup titles, presented by The Cowboy Channel.

In a thrilling two-round competition, athletes in their first year of PRCA membership — better known as Resistol rookies — vied for titles and a share of the $100,000 payout, all of which counted toward the PRCA world standings.

Furthering Resistol’s commitment to developing the next generation of rodeo athletes, the weekend also featured exclusive media opportunities, sponsorship training and the chance to learn from industry icons like Pam Minick and Joe Beaver.

When the final round settled inside Cowtown Coliseum, all eyes were on calf roper Brodey Clemons, who dominated the aggregate race with a total time of 18.5 seconds on two head and earned Round 1 top honors.

Clemons, who currently ranks 18th in the world standings and leads the Resistol Rookie of the Year race, will use these earnings as he continues to push toward his first National Finals Rodeo qualification and rookie title goals.

“It’s pretty cool to get to see all the new, young guys,” Clemons, a Team Resistol athlete said. “It’s fun to rope against the in Fort Worth.”

“Winning Resistol Rookie of the Year is something you only have one shot at,” he added. “It would be pretty special to win the same honor as my brother. My end goal is to make the NFR, and if I do that, I’ll have a great shot at the rookie title as well.”

Bareback rider Tucker Carricato also found success at the Rookie Roundup, winning both go-rounds and the aggregate with a total score of 167 points on two head. The 20-year-old took home $4,742.

Wyoming steer wrestler Jace Mayfield claimed the event’s top honors, winning the aggregate title to kick-start his PRCA career. Current Resistol Rookie of the Year leader Clay Tom Hurt also earned multiple paychecks, continuing his strong 2026 campaign. Hurt currently ranks No. 12 in the world standings.

In the team roping, Conley Kleinhans and Kyler Kanady secured aggregate honors with a smooth 17.0-second total time.

Saddle bronc rider Coleman Shallbetter of Colorado captured the title with 165 points on two head. Shallbetter currently sits inside the top 25 in the world standings and leads the Resistol Rookie of the Year race in his event.

Barrel racer Brooke Krolczyk set an unbeatable pace throughout the two rounds, earning the aggregate title and coveted Kerry Kelley spurs with a combined time of 27.06 seconds.

Stephanie Braman claimed the breakaway roping title with a total time of 5.8 seconds on two head.

Closing out the fifth annual event, bull rider Cooper Jacobs rode both bulls to the eight-second whistle, finishing with a total score of 168 points on two head to secure the championship.

With the fifth annual Resistol Rookie Roundup officially in the books, athletes now turn their focus to carrying that momentum through the remainder of the PRCA season, with eyes set on the coveted year-end Resistol Rookie of the Year award.

Since 1959, Resistol has tipped its hats to rodeo’s premier cowboys and cowgirls as the official hat of the PRCA. As a longtime supporter of the Rookie of the Year race and the Rookie Roundup, the brand continues to invest in the next generation of athletes and the growth of Western sports.
