Resistol Celebrates Record-Breaking 2025 Rookie Class and Announces Exclusive Media Day

GARLAND, TEXAS —The Resistol Rookie of the Year award remains one of the most prestigious honors in professional rodeo. It’s a distinction that can only be earned once during a rodeo athlete’s first year as a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) or Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) cardholder.

Each year, Resistol recognizes the top first-year PRCA and WPRA competitors who achieve the highest season earnings in their respective events, including winnings from the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR).

As the official hat of the PRCA and one of its original sponsors, Resistol proudly continues honoring these athletes with the annual Resistol Rookie of the Year Luncheon. Now in its 11th year, the celebration will take place at the South Point Hotel & Casino during the Wrangler NFR in Las Vegas. Guests will enjoy live music, a meal and a program hosted by industry leaders, featuring past Rookies of the Year and World Champions who will share their advice and encouragement with the new class.

This year’s standout rookie class features athletes like Riley O’Rourke, aiming to be the first rookie to win the steer roping world champion title, and Haiden Thompson, who broke the rookie earnings record in breakaway roping.

Congratulations to the 2025 Resistol Rookies of the Year and the contenders.

For the first time, Resistol will host an exclusive Media Day prior to the Rookie Luncheon—providing an unprecedented opportunity for credentialed media to meet, interview and create content with the 2025 Resistol Rookies of the Year and the contenders.

The Media Day will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Las Vegas.

Media will enjoy access to a rookie panel discussion, speed interview sessions and exclusive photo and video opportunities.

"The Resistol Rookie of the Year program has elevated and grown so much,” said Devin Marcum, Resistol President. “We are grateful to all the media who have helped drive the news on the Resistol Rookies all year long and throughout the years. We thought it would be beneficial for the media to have a special time to have access to all the rookie champions to create additional content. We created this media event prior to the Resistol Rookie luncheon and celebration."

The Resistol Rookie Luncheon will immediately follow Media Day and is by invitation only.
