Celebrate Rodeo’s Rising Stars

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — The annual Resistol Rookie of the Year award honors first-year Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) cardholders who achieve the highest earnings in their respective events by the end of the season, including winnings at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR). This prestigious title is a “one-shot” opportunity, unique in the PRCA and WPRA.

As one of the original sponsors and official hat of the PRCA, Resistol celebrates the Resistol Rookies of the Year annually with a special awards luncheon. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the luncheon–a decade of celebrating rodeo stars at the South Point Hotel & Casino during the Wrangler NFR. Guests will enjoy live music, a delicious meal and a program hosted by the industry’s best. The rookies will be presented with their year-end awards. Previous rookies of the year and world champions will offer the current rookies with congratulations, sentiments of the title and future advice as they continue in their careers.

“We are thrilled to honor these outstanding rookies in front of their families and the entire industry as part of this lifetime achievement,” said Mary Jane Carpenter, the Brand Director for Resistol. “Over the past decade, the Resistol Rookie program has grown tremendously, with more fan engagement, greater recognition for the rookies and increased attendance during this remarkable crowning celebration.”

The celebration culminates with the revered Resistol “Man of the Year” award, presented to someone who goes above and beyond to further the industry, sport and lifestyle that Resistol represents. Past recipients include country music star Cody Johnson, American Quarter Horse Association Vice President Karl Stressman, Wildfire Open founder Billy Pipes and Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame announcer Bob Tallman.

The Resistol National Little Britches Rodeo Association Rookies of the Year will also be honored at luncheon, recognizing their dedication and hardwork.

During Round Six of the NFR, the PRCA Resistol Rookies of the Year will be honored in the arena and awarded with their Montana Silversmiths Rookie of the Year buckles.
